Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about secure collaborations with Collabkick
General
What is Collabkick?
Collabkick is a secure collaboration system for brands and creators. It uses an escrow-based mechanism to protect money, products, deliverables, and time so collaborations happen smoothly, without chasing, stress, or misunderstandings. Funds and deposits are secured upfront, rules are defined clearly, and releases only happen when the agreed terms are respected. It works for paid collaborations, gifting collaborations, or any setup involving budgets, products, or both.
Who is Collabkick for?
Collabkick is built for:
- Brands running creator collaborations
- Content creators working with brands
- Agencies, managers, and teams coordinating collaborations
Do you hold the money?
No. Collabkick does not hold or keep your money. All funds are securely held and managed through Stripe Connect, a trusted payment infrastructure used by thousands of platforms worldwide. Collabkick never has custody of the funds and cannot access or move them outside of the collaboration rules defined upfront.
Protection
How does Collabkick protect brands?
Collabkick protects brands by:
- Securing the collaboration budget upfront
- Defining deliverables and deadlines clearly
- Releasing payments only when the agreed work is completed
- Protecting products through a temporary creator deposit when products are involved
How does Collabkick protect creators?
Collabkick protects creators by:
- Securing the brand's payment before any work starts
- Making sure the money is real and reserved
- Releasing payment automatically once the work is approved
- Removing awkward conversations about payment or reminders
How does Collabkick protect everyone's time?
Collabkick is designed to protect time, not just money. By setting clear rules upfront and securing commitment on both sides:
- Brands stop wasting time chasing creators or restarting collaborations
- Creators stop losing time renegotiating, following up, or worrying about payment
Product Deposits
What is a product deposit?
A product deposit is a temporary amount placed by the creator when a collaboration includes physical or digital products. It protects the brand's product and shows mutual commitment. Once the agreed deliverables are completed, the deposit is automatically released. This applies to gifting collaborations, paid collaborations with products, or mixed setups.
Why do I need to fund anything as a creator when a product deposit is required?
The product deposit exists to protect your work, your time, and the collaboration itself. When products are involved, both sides are making a real commitment. Brands send products with value. Creators commit time, creativity, and delivery. The deposit simply shows that the collaboration is taken seriously by everyone involved.
What happens to my product deposit?
Your deposit is:
- Temporary
- Securely held
- Fully released once you deliver what was agreed
How does a product deposit benefit creators?
Using a product deposit:
- Positions you as a serious, professional partner
- Increases trust from brands before products are shipped
- Reduces cancellations and last minute changes
- Leads to better long term opportunities
Is a product deposit always required?
No. A product deposit is only required when a collaboration includes physical or digital products. Purely paid collaborations without products do not require any creator deposit.
When does the creator get paid?
Creators get paid once:
- The agreed content is delivered
- The deliverables match what was defined upfront
- The collaboration is approved according to the rules
Disputes
What happens if there is a dispute?
If a disagreement arises, both brands and creators can open a dispute directly through Collabkick. A dispute can be opened if:
- Deliverables are not completed as agreed
- Content does not match what was defined upfront
- Deadlines are missed
- There is a disagreement on validation
How are disputes handled?
Disputes are handled based on the rules defined at the start of the collaboration and governed by the Collabkick Collaboration Rules available at /collaboration-rules. When a dispute is open:
- Funds and deposits remain securely held
- Both parties can explain their position
- The agreement and deliverables are reviewed objectively
Does opening a dispute block the money?
Yes, temporarily. While a dispute is open, payments and deposits are paused. No funds are released until the dispute is resolved. Once resolved, funds are released accordingly.
Who decides the outcome of a dispute?
Disputes are resolved based on:
- The original collaboration agreement
- The defined deliverables and deadlines
- The proof provided by both parties
